The ‘Secret’ to Being Funny
Recently, I came to realize that making a woman laugh was a completely different ball game than what I had thought about it many years ago.
For many years, I used to wrongly think that the same kind of humour that got my buddies to cry in tears with laughter would also have the same effect on the women that I was having a conversation with.
It made sense, right? I mean, comedy was supposed to be universal. Shouldn’t the same kind of humour that made my friends roll on the floor with laughter also have the same effect on girls?
But when I began to really pay close attention to what women were actually laughing at, I started to realise…
- The sarcastic remarks that made me SO popular among my male friends hardly ever got the same kind of positive responses from the women.
- Some of the guys I knew who had the most childish, lamest humour, often seemed to get the best reaction out of women.
- Women hardly ever judged the originality and the cleverness of humour the way most of my male friends did.
So… what do women find funny?
About 7 years ago, I really began to get really serious about trying to determine where I was going wrong with my conversations with women. It was during this time that I accidentally stumbled upon a very famous book called The Game, which taught me the new concept called the “Cocky Funny”. I thought the concept made a lot of sense, so I made a few changes in my humour and started talking with women in a whole different way.
Having completely misread the cocky funny concept revealed in the book, I went out every night basically trying to bully women into liking me. I used sharp ironic wit and sarcasm to make fun of them.
To make matters worse, a few women I was interacting with using this concept actually ate this shit up. They absolutely LOVED it. And I took it as a positive sign that this was the right way to make a woman laugh. And, so, I began using this same kind of humour on every woman I met.
And failed HORRIBLY.
What I failed to realize at that time was that some of the girls that seemed to enjoy this kind of sarcastic humour, while really attractive, were some kind of tomboys with strong masculine energy that didn’t represent the rest of the female population.
I was about to call it quits.
Then one day I just sat and watch my friend Sinn interact with women. Now, Sinn had always been the guy who was somewhat of a natural with women. I could never understand his humour because I found them to be completely childish and silly… and he hardly said anything clever to make any of my guy friends roll on the floor with laughter.
As I sat there and watched him, I started to pay more attention to the way women were reacting to him.
The women he was with always had a permanent smile plastered on their faces. While they were not rolling on the ground with laughter… they were always in a good state of fun and playfulness.
I got curious. I started to do exactly what he was doing with girls. As I paid close attention, I found that he was talking with women the same way a 5th-grade school boy would talk with a 5th-grade girl on the playground.
There was no stand-up comedy type of humour.
Instead, there was non-stop silliness going around. Sinn was continuously teasing girls. He was making funny faces. He was using his voice to tell stories in such a way that reminded me of an over-energized 6-year-old telling the story of how he beat up the town bully. There was a constant supply of only goofy movie quotes, mildly amusing jokes, and shameless flirting. (This article gives you more examples of the kind of conversation that most beautiful women find funny.)
And the interesting thing about this was that all the girls were eating all this shit up.
It was at this moment that I realized that women don’t want funny.
They just wanna have fun.
They don’t want to have to think. And if your jokes are making them think, then you are probably taking them out of their moment.

A simple process for having fun with women
If you are that guy that often finds himself struggling to make a woman laugh, then the first thing you must do is look around you and pay attention to what they are actually laughing at.
- You’ll soon notice that women don’t care much about the originality of your jokes… in fact, they are more likely to laugh at the knock-knock joke that you learned at 6th grade than whatever sarcastic remark that may come into your mind.
- You’ll soon notice that women rather watch silly romantic comedies than waste their time watching witty indie dark comedies that get all the Oscars.
- You’ll notice that women don’t appreciate the idea of “cool” the way we guys do. Women would rather have you act in a fun silly way than stand around like you’re a king don.
- Playground humour never gets old. Never.
Why does silly and childish humour make women laugh? Because these type of humour allow women to have fun. And they want to be with a guy that allows them to have fun. So next time you’re talking to a woman, make it your number one priority to take your conversation back to the playground.
When you are engaged in a conversation with her, imagine that the two of you are a 6-year-olds on the playground after school… and start acting in that manner, immediately.
Playing things like the “Mouse race”
With this type of conversation game, you grab a pen and paper, and then, tell the girl that 3 mice are having a race. One is a dumb mouse, another is the blind mouse, and the third one is deaf. You put the pen on her arm and say “Okay, here’s the blind mouse… tell him when to stop”, and then you start drawing. She’ll say stop immediately. Then you tell her “here is the dumb mouse, tell him when to stop”… and you start drawing. She’ll again say stop immediately. Then you say, “here’s the deaf mouse, tell him when to stop”… and you start drawing. But this time when she says stop… you keep on drawing. She’ll probably say stop again. But you keep on drawing. If she doesn’t get the humour… just look at her and say, “haha… he’s deaf… so he can’t hear you.” And you just keep on drawing. And by now you have drawn a line up her arm.
Now I know it’s completely silly. Something you’d play with your crush in the 5th grade. But for some unknown reason, it’s STILL funny all over again.
So, do you now understand the importance of having a few of these type of silly games to play with girls at your repertoire? Remember, you don’t want to do more than two as they get stale pretty fast. But by doing one or two of these silly games you show to the woman that you’re the type of guy that likes to have fun and who doesn’t take himself too seriously.
She’ll appreciate this a lot more than that clever witty ironic observation that you spent hours perfecting the joke in your mind.
Always remember to take the girl back to the playground.
