How to Use Cold Reading Techniques for Picking Up Girls
Last week, I wrote a post about how the best way to talk to younger girls is to talk about them. And, the easiest to talk about them I mentioned was making statements or cold reads.
Cold reads techniques are often talked about in great lengths when it comes to picking up women. And there’s a reason for that… cold reading simply works.
Once you open up a girl you must quickly move to a transition phase. In the popular book Magic Bullets, they mentioned 4 different types of transitions.
But cold reading is my personal favourite, and the only one I want to discuss today.
So, what is cold reading? And, why is it important? Cold reading is an act of observing something about someone (girls) and telling them about it as you see it. These type of random observations make up for great conversation starters because the other person will often instantly tell you how well your observation was. Cold reading is not just a technique… but art itself… and hence, it requires practice and a lot of trial and error… but soon you’ll discover that you’ll be able to make an impromptu “generalization” about a woman’s personality even if you just met her.
Here’s a good cold read example developed by Bertram Foyer, who talks about it in detail in The Love Systems Routine Manual. Now, even though these generalizations may appear quite general at first, as you start to read it, you’ll be able to comprehend how many of these statements can apply to anyone:
My Favourite Cold Reading Lines + Routines
“You have a need for other people to like and admire you, and yet you tend to be critical of yourself. While you have some personality weaknesses you are generally able to compensate for them. You have a considerable unused capacity that you have not turned to your advantage. Disciplined and self-controlled on the outside, you tend to be worrisome and insecure on the inside. At times you have serious doubts as to whether you have made the right decision or done the right thing. You prefer a certain amount of change and variety and become dissatisfied when hemmed in by restrictions and limitations. You also pride yourself as an independent thinker and do not accept other’s statements without satisfactory proof. But you have found it unwise to be too frank in revealing yourself to others. At times you are extroverted, affable, and sociable, while at other times you are introverted, wary, and reserved. Some of your aspirations tend to be rather unrealistic.”
Just imagine for a second saying these lines to a woman as a chance observation. Don’t you think she’ll be slightly interested?
Below, you can find another cold reading tactic developed by Mr M and taken out from the book The Routines Manual.
Eye Angle Transition
This cold reading routine works simply on the idea that eyes that are slanted slightly downwards are perceived as being empathetic and caring, while eyes slanted upwards shows a more sincere but fierce impression.
You can use this tactic at any point after your opener… even interrupt her at any time to begin with this one.
That’s really interesting.
Did you know that if your eyes slant downwards your first impression tends to be empathetic and approachable whereas if your eyes slant upwards people tend to think you are fierce and unapproachable?
There are two options from here:
If her eyes slant down “Do you find that people are usually friendly towards you but you only allow a handful of people to become really close to you?”
Or, if her eyes slant up “Do you find that people don’t always open up to you straight away and you only let a select group of people become really close to you anyway?”
(She responds) That’s right, you seem like the kind of person that enjoys making friends but only let only a handful of people into your inner circle. I’m just the same way.
Using cold reading lines such as these is an excellent way to keep a girl engaged (and interested) in talking to you. Even though it is nothing astonishing, it will be a breath of fresh air to a girl that has heard the same cheesy pickup lines over and over again in a bar. In addition, you’ll be displaying to her that you have an understanding of her world. And as mentioned in the Magic Bullets, that is the best way to build higher value.
